Sustainable Infrastructure — We design systems, documentation, and shared practices that outlast any single individual's tenure.
Radical Openness — Failure is part of the process. So is talking about it.
Practical Stewardship — We prioritize tools and programs that are realistic, maintainable, and affordable within the library context.
Collective Wisdom — We channel individual problem-solving into collective resources through active peer support.
Intentional Inclusion — We are a community built on access. We actively stand against barriers that exclude makerspace staff at any experience level.
On credentialing partnerships
GoLM declines partnerships with academic or certification bodies that profit from paywalled makerspace curriculum. Our stance is rooted in Purposeful Equity. When institutional programs monetize the collective labor of our members, it creates a financial barrier for the very practitioners who shared that data. GoLM works to eliminate these paywalls. Our guides and toolkits will always be free. While instructors are encouraged to refer students to our community, our proprietary knowledge cannot be packaged into fee-based courses or commercial credentials.
